About the Aircraft

The EA-6B Prowler is an electronic warfare aircraft based on the carrier-based attack aircraft A-6 Intruder. The aircraft was extended to accommodate one pilot and three electronic countermeasures officers. In addition, the EA-6B was equipped with various electronic devices to perform a wide range of electronic warfare missions, such as neutralizing enemy radar systems that guide surface-to-air missiles, electronic jamming, and collecting enemy radar information. Mass production started in 1969, and troop deployment started in 1971. In addition to being deployed in the U.S. Navy Carrier Air Wings, it was also operated by the U.S. Marine Corps. The EA-6B participated in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, etc., and showed a wide range of activities. From 1980 to 2012, the EA-6B was also deployed in the VAQ-136 "The Gauntlets", which was also deployed at Atsugi Air base in Japan.
