US Navy Electronic Warfare Aircraft EA-18G Growler "VAQ-132 Yellow Jackets"

About the Aircraft

The E/A-18G Growler is an electronic warfare aircraft which has been in operation since 2009 by the United States Navy. Developed based on the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the E/A-18G Growler is mounted with electronic warfare equipment such as AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming system(TJS) pod, an AN/ALQ-218 (V) 2 RF wideband receiver system. With this equipment as weapons, the E/A-18G has an important mission called SEAD that interferes with and suppresses enemy radar networks and air defense systems.
The Electronic Attack Squadron 138 (VAQ-138) of the United States Navy, also known as the "Yellow Jackets", is regularly deployed at Misawa Air base in Japan, and also operates the EA-18G Growler. The tail wing is marked with the design of a yellow jacket, a type of wasps.
